My career

I study archeology because I am interested in the investigation of past societies. Also, because i am attracted by the humanistic disciplines and social sciences; for example, history, anthropology, sociology and others. From my point of view, I think archeology involves use each of these disciplines, from the perspective of the study of material cultural remains. For these reasons, and many others: the enjoy of exploration and discovery, the curiosity by other forms of social life, the need of understand the present from our own past, I study arqueology.

The archaeologists can contribute in many forms to society. They are important to the study of past of each human culture, from the begining of the human race. Thanks to the archaeologists, is possible have a clearer picture of the peopling of the continents, the first forms of collect hunter life, the origin of agriculture, pottery and the state societies. In few words, the origin of the earliest civilizations in the world and, therefore, the historical antecedent of our own culture.

In Archaeology, the principal tools of this profession are: the social theory from social and historical science and the knowledge of technical instruments of archaeological practice: ecxcavacion tools, microscopes, statistical software, GPS and many others.

In general, I am interested in all topics that the arqueology can study. However, my favourite subject are the study of complex societies: for example, in Chile, Tiwanaku and Inca, and the study of the capitalist industry.

A Photograph that I like..."The glasses of Absinthe"

I enjoy very much taking pictures. At every moment, everywhere. I 'm a adict photographer person. I have three camera and many personal collect printed photos. Yes!, I'm a photolog freak!!
One of the photographs that I like is: "The glasses of absinthe". You can see it in:
www.bdebarna.net/v1/imatges_arxiu/absenta.jpg.

This photo shows many glasses of absinthe, full at the top with the "Green fairy", the elixir of the poetry and art. Also, in this photo you can see a transparent bottle of this alcoholic green potion, above the glasses (with the mouth down). I took this photo a few months ago, in a absent bar in Valparaíso, when i went it with my friends. Some information about the history and characteristics of Absinthe can be found in many books, magazines, newpaper and internet. Also, in many novels and literary work, from many many years ago, since nineteenth century. An interesting article on this topic can be read at the following internet address: http://www.chile.com/tpl/articulo/detalle/ver.tpl?cod_articulo=107621

I like this photo because when i look at I remember some books, some films and some paintings.
All of them represent the famous green fairy, the favorite drink some great artist such as Vincent Van Goht, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, etc. Finally, i like this photo because the green colour
this drink is very intense and, in some way, mysterious.

A career-related website. My favorite arqueological website.

The website of the Chungara magazine, located on the website “Scielo” (http://www.scielo.cl), is one of the websites most frequently visited by Chilean archaeologists. On this page you can find articles about a large number of archaeological researchs, made in many regions of the country. This website has been recognized as one of the more important “on line” tools for the diffusion of archaeological thought.

Like many of my carrer’s colleagues, I found the website of Chungara magazine browse internet to seek information for my work on the Chilean prehistory. I do not remember if it was by personal recommendation, because the search an specific article on the Internet, or by luck. However, in the last three years, i frequently visit the Web site Chungara, four or five times a month approximately.

In general, I like the Chungara magazine website because contains a large number of archaeological research, made in many regions of chile. Furthermore, I like this website because has a high scientific value. This magazine has been recognized at international level.
